WinQ Lash Bar thrives on masterfully applying eyelash extensions in order to ensure people look and feel like their best self. Although our team does everything in their power to guarantee those who leave WinQ Lash Bar with lashes fall in love with them, lash care does not stop when you leave the salon and step onto the street of Commonwealth Ave. Have no fear though, we will never send a client on their way without fully educating them on how to care for their lashes. We are all human and forget things from time to time, so in case the steps of lash aftercare are forgotten, here are a few tips to not only maintain healthy lashes but to make them last as long as possible before it is time for a fill!
Do not get lashes wet for the first 24 hours after application.
This means avoid washing of the face, steam rooms, showers, saunas, the pool, and yes, sadly, even the ocean. Water has a love-hate relationship with the glue bond used to apply the extensions, and we want to make sure the beautiful lash creations last as long as possible.
Avoid high heat such as ovens or BBQ’s as it can melt or distort extensions.
Trust us, melted or distorted extensions are not fun for anybody. Just stay clear of high heat and this will not be an issue.
Do not use oil-based eye products, creams, or makeup removers; use only water-based makeup and makeup remover
There are so many beauty products that are not oil-based so do not fret this aftercare tip. Some of our favorites at WinQ are Neutrogena’s oil-free line, Garnier Micellar water, and of course WinQ’s Lash Splash.
Clean your eyelash extensions with lash splash and a makeup brush or lint-free wand and gently brush out with a clean spoolie or wand daily.
Like many things in life, cleanliness is key; this is also true when it comes to extensions. Cleaning them should now be an essential part of your everyday routine.
If mascara is a necessity in your makeup routine, only use extension safe mascaras.
It is our hope that after extensions mascara will no longer be a vital part of your makeup routine, especially for the first couple weeks, but if for some reason it is a crucial part of your routine and you just can’t seem to let go, it is imperative to use extension safe mascaras, no oil-based or waterproof mascaras.
Do not perm, tint or use an eyelash curler on your extensions.
Our lash artists do everything in their power to ensure you absolutely love your lashes and they are lashed to perfection so the extra drama of perming, tinting or curling them is unnecessary.
Avoid pulling at extensions or rubbing eyes (and definitely never ever pick them off!)
If for any reason you want your extensions taken off, please see a trained lash stylist to have your extensions removed. Each extension is attached to your natural lashes so pulling at the extensions will rip out your natural lashes and that is definitely not what anybody wants.
We all love our beauty rest, but with extensions try to sleep on your back.
Lashes can bend and twist if you sleep on your stomach or face, and nobody wants bent lashes. Also, if you notice your lashes falling out quicker on the outside of your eyes, it is likely because you are sleeping on your side; again, we encourage you to try to sleep on your back.
To extend the life of your lashes, please schedule touch-ups or fills every 2-3 weeks.
In order to make sure you are constantly slaying the game, visit us every 2-3 weeks so we can make sure your lashes are as full as your first set. I mean who doesn’t love to wink with full lashes.
