How long will it take to apply eyelash extensions and how is it done?
The application process for lash extensions normally takes about 90-120 minutes for a full set of lashes and 45-60 minutes for a refill. You will lay comfortably on a massage table with your eyes closed while relaxing ambient music is played in the background. During application, your lower lashes will be covered and the extensions will be applied only to your upper lashes one at a time.
How do I choose the look I want?
Your stylist will consult with you to understand what type of style you are interested in and what look will work best with your natural lashes. The overall look of the lashes can range from very natural to very voluminous!
Do I have to do anything to prepare for the service?
To remove any eye makeup, use oil-free makeup remover wipes and our Lash Splash to remove excess mascara. Right before the appointment, you may be asked to cleanse your lashes with a mild cleanser to remove any leftover oils. Lashes should not be permed or manually curled at the time of appointment.
What happens if I choose to have my eyelash extensions removed?
We do offer a service to have the extensions removed involving a short thirty-minute appointment in which we apply a gel remover. The gel remover is applied on top of the extensions without touching the skin and allowed to sit for 10 minutes. Once the adhesive is dissolved the extensions are gently wiped away with lint-free applicators exposing the natural lashes.
Do eyelash extensions hurt?
Eyelash extensions should not hurt when applied correctly. They are applied with professional tools by isolating one lash, and adhering one extension to your natural lash for classic lashes or fans for volume lashes. Most lash artists put on under eye gel pads to prevent discomfort and aid in application. It is important to go to a trusted lash artist who was certified through a reputable course as this will ensure that they are applying the correct weight and length of lashes to your natural lash.
Do eyelash extensions look fake?
Eyelash extensions can be applied to look any way that you desire. Most reputable lash artists will be able to give you your desired look or very similar. You can choose to have shorter natural lashes, large dramatic lashes, etc. Typically speaking, eyelash extensions don’t look fake unless that is the look that you are going for.
How long do eyelash extensions last?
Most eyelash extension adhesives have a bond time of anywhere from 4-8 weeks. However, they will only last as long as your natural lash does. Like all hair on the human body, your eyelashes grow in stages. It is normal to lose 1-4 natural lashes per day which is why a fill is recommended every 3-4 weeks.
Do eyelash extensions damage my natural lashes?
When applied correctly, eyelash extensions do not damage your natural lash. Certified lash artists will apply to only one natural lash, and will apply an extension that is the appropriate weight and length to ensure the integrity of your natural lash. Eyelash extensions can be damaging if your lash artist is not using proper techniques. Lashes that are too heavy, or clusters (pre-made fans) have a larger amount of adhesive and can cause your natural lash to break. When selecting your lash artist, ask which techniques that they use and where they were certified. This will aid in maintaining healthy natural lashes and enjoying the benefits of extensions.
Can I wear mascara with my eyelash extensions?
Yes, you can! However, it is recommended to use an oil free mascara that is extension safe. This will make it so your mascara does not interfere with the bond of the eyelash extension adhesive or cause early separation. Extension safe mascara is available at WinQ Lash Bar.
Can I wear eye make-up with my eyelash extensions?
You most definitely can wear make-up with your eyelash extensions. When selecting makeup, it is beneficial to go with extension safe makeup. Extension safe makeup is oil-free, usually contains sealers to prolong extension life and helps to work adjacent with your extensions for an optimal look. If you use regular makeup, it is recommended to use a daily cleanser with makeup remover that is safe for your lashes to remove residue at the end of the day, such as our Lash Splash.
Can I swim, shower, exercise, or visit a spa while wearing eyelash extensions?
We do ask you to minimize the chance of wetting the extensions for the first 48 hours of wear. After that 48-hour period, the adhesive used to apply your eyelash extensions is secure enough to allow you to get right back to your routine. However, keeping away from extensive contact with steam such as in saunas or certain facials is recommended since it can begin to loosen the bond.
How soon can I wash my face after the extensions are applied?
The suggested time frame is 48 hours. For a guest with sensitivities, it is suggested to wash within the first 12 hours of application.
How do I dry my eyelash extensions?
After cleansing your eyelashes, brush your extensions with a clean mascara wand and use a lint-free cloth to gently apply pressure to the top of your extensions while keeping your eyes closed.
How do I take care of my new eyelash extensions?
- Avoid getting lashes wet for the first 24-48 hours
- Avoid hot steam or sauna
- Use oil-free makeup wipes to remove any eye makeup.
- Use our Lash Splash or a mild antibacterial foaming cleanser to cleanse the lashes.
- Do not perm eyelashes or manually curl.
- Brush with a clean mascara wand daily.
- TIP: Sometimes mornings are a mess! Try washing your lashes in the morning and gently brushing the top side of the extensions with a finger placed beneath. If too much tugging is noticed, a quick stop at WinQ Lash Bar may be necessary to help separate these extensions.
